Ensdorf Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a fess dancetty Gules, flanked by three fleur-de-lis Azure ordered 2:1, two in chief and one in base.
Meaning:
The arms are based on those of the Benedictine Ensdorf Monastery. The fess dancetty was used by its abbots since the end of the 15th century. It had been the oldest coat of arms of the Palatine Counts from the Wittelsbach kin, as Palatine Count Otto founded the monastery in 1121, realising a plan of his father in law, Count Friedrich of Hopfenohe-Lengenfeld-Pettendorf. The fleur-de-lis are a differentiation in counterchanged tinctures of the arms of the Counts of Lengenfeld, which had been the same like those of the Counts of Kastl. Their arms displayed six white fleur-de-lis in a blue shield. The fleur-de-lis were added to the arms of the abbots since the end of the 17th century. The municipal seal displays the coat of arms in a black circle with a black circumscription "BAYERN" (above) "GEMEINDE ENSDORF" (below) separated by two asterixes.
