Oberottmarshausen Coat of Arms

Shield Vert a pale Gules, charged with a boundary stone Argent.
Meaning:
The arms are based on a local seal from the 19th century, which probably displayed an old local symbol. Bishop Clemens Wenzelslaus of Augsburg (1739 - 1812) invited all municipalities alongside the Hochstraße (English: Highway), to mark their properties, among those boundary stones and boundary-posts, fences and public equipment, by local symbols. The background colours are taken from the arms of the Langenmantel family, citizens of Augsburg. The family owned large estates in the village from the 14th century until 1505 and again from 1698 until the middle of the 19th century. The family also had the low level cognisance in the village. The Bishopric of Augsburg had been an important manorial lord and enfeoffed its estates in the 13th century, especially to the families of Langenmantel and Schongauer. In 1313 the Chapter of Augsburg acquired some of these estates. They were ceded to the Imperial Collegiate Church of St. Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg in 1629. The flag colours are those of the city of Augsburg and are referring to the close relationships between city and village.
