Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows a golden(=yellow) sinister facing bishop holding a crozier in his right hand and a model of a church in his left hand in a red field. He is accompanied at his feet by a golden(=yellow) goose. It is the same pattern mirrored like that one of Coesfeld county, there without model. The sinister side shows a red embattled wall with a black double entrance in a golden(=yellow) field. The wall is topped by an onion shaped roof having two embattled galeries.
Meaning:
According to source the bishop is St.Ludgerus, in Münster area called Liudger, the patron of the local parish church and the very first bishop of Münster. The tower is taken from an old seal of Nienborg and had already been part of the arms of Nienborg Amt and municipality. It is symbolizing an old local castle. The colours red and golden are those of the bishopric of Münster.
