Rangendingen Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a bear rampant Sable, holding a branch Gules with three linden leaves Vert in his forepaws.
Meaning:
Rangendingen had been a market town. Two town seals from 1784 and 1798 displayed a man, standing on the ground and holding a branch with leaves in his right hand. At the left there were two unidentified objects. The picture perhaps is alluding to the Seelbuch (I guess some kind of chronicle) edition 1466. There the Knight Heinrich of Lindach is mentioned as a benefactor of the village. A special day, dedicated to him, had been celebrated until the middle of the 19th century. The linden branch in the current arms is reminding on the knight. The bear is an attribute of St. Gall, the local patron saint. St. Gallen abbey owned some estates in the village around 800.
