Amt Peitz Coat of Arms

Shield parted by an embattled bridge Sable with one arch, fimbriated Argent and charged with three barrulets engrailed Or, above Vert a linden issuant Or with 11 leaves, beneath Azure a carp Or.
Meaning:
The linden tree is a sacred tree in the Sorbian history, the area is a traditional region of Sorbs, a small Slavic people living in Southeastern Germany. The 11 leaves are symbolising the 11 original municipalities in the subcounty (Bärenbrück, Drachhausen, Drehnow, Grötsch, Heinersbrück, Maust, Neuendorf, Peitz (city), Preilack, Tauer and Turnow). The black bridge is symbolising the fortified city of Peitz, as well, together with the fish and base, the many rivers and streams in the area. The fish also is symbolising fishery and nature. The black colour of the bridge is symbolising coal mining; the barrulets engrailed are power lines, symbolising the local power station.

Heinersbrück Coat of Arms

Shield Gules with abased base Azure, both separated by a bridge Or of wooden planks, on bridge a king guardant Argent, crowned Or mounted on a sinister facing horse passant Argent, bridled Or, in dexter chief an impending Latin cross Or.
Meaning:
The municipalities name means "bridge of Heinrich". Heinrich II, German King (1002 - 1024) had erected a bridge across Malxe river in a swampy region. The village had been the base for campaigns against the Polish King Boleslaw I Chobry.

Peitz Coat of Arms

Shield Gules with base Vert, a castle Or with port Azure, windows Sable and three towers with roofs Azure, the central tower with pyramid roof and the outer towers with spires shaped like bells, on top of the central tower a bird statatnt Argent, flanked by impending numbers Or "8" and "5".
Meaning:
The local castle was first mentioned in 1301. The settlement became seat of a district (Amt) of the Bohemian kings and was acquired by the Margraves of Brandenburg in 1462. It was fortified between 1559 and 1695. Between 1536 and 1898 iron ore was exploited in the city. The arms are based on the oldest seal, displaying the current pattern and a circumscription "15+PEICZ+63". There is no satisfying explanation for the "85" in the current arms.

Tauer Coat of Arms

Shield Vert an aurochs passant reguardant Or, base Or charged with an ash branch Vert.
Meaning:
According to source the Slavic name means "place of aurochs". The tinctures had been chosen, as a golden bull had symbolised sun and fertility. The ash branch is symbolising nature.

Shield Or, three bulrushes Sable with leaves Vert in fess and issuant from base wavy Azure, chief Sable charged with three barrulets engrailed Or.
Meaning:
The chief is taken from the arms of the subcounty (Amt). The base wavy is canting, as the municipality's name means "land of ponds". The number of bulrushes is alluding to the three former municipalities: Bärenbrück, Maust and Neuendorf, having merged on 31 December 2000.

Meaning:
The bendlet wavy is symbolising Malxe River, the white bend probably a dyke. Blackthorn and globeflower are local plants.
