Lieberose Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, an impending scythe blade Argent in pale pointing to base between two impending embattled towers Argent masoned Sable, in base a heraldic rose Gules.
Meaning:
Lieberose was mentioned as a city since 1272, probably founded by the Margraves of Lower Lusatia. In the early 14th century the city was acquired by the Lords of Strehla, became a possession of the Electorate of Saxony in 1635 and finally of Prussia in 1815. A local seal from 1635 already displayed an unrecognisable object between two towers, perhaps a rose. In the current pattern the towers are symbolising the rank of a city. The scythe blade is taken from the arms of the Lords of Strehla. And the rose is a canting element.
