Bernterode Coat of Arms

The shield is green, displaying a lumberman, cleaving a stomp with a hammer and a black wedge, all other charges are silver. Above right is a silver branch of beech having five leaves.
Meaning:
The name of the municipality means something like "forest clearance made by Bernhard". The main ensemble is thus canting. The branch is referring to local beech groves.

Ershausen Coat of Arms

The shield is golden. Beneath a black chevron in chief is a throughout red cross, charged in its centre by a silver 6-spokes wheel.
Meaning:
The wheel is reminding on the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. The chevron is symbolizing the suffix ü-hausenü. It is representing a roof and also protection. Connected with the cross it is representing also local clerical buildings: the 14-saints chapel and the St.John's Monastery.

Kella Coat of Arms

The shield is silver; issuant from base a green mountain, charged with a silver 6-spokes wheel filled red; issuant from mountain a red, sinister-facing demi-griffin.
Meaning:
The griffin is alluding to Greifenstein Castle. In the middle ages the village had been impawned to the burgers of the castle for a long time. The mount is representing the arboreous mountain crowned by the ruins of the castle. Finally the wheel is alluding to the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers.

The shield is parted per fess into silver over green. Over all a silver tower with black port and window and a black spire, flanked in chief by two beech leaves.
Meaning:
The tower is the western tower of the local parish church St. Ursula. The leaves are symbolizing the local beech groves.

Presentation of Pfaffschwende

The shield is parted per pale; at dexter green charged with a throughout silver, Latin cross; at sinister silver charged with a black, burning pale raguly, flambant golden fimbriated red.
Meaning:
The arms are punning. The cross is symbolizing a priest (German: Pfaffe), stressing the fact, that the village had been a possession of the church. The pale is representing the suffix " -schwende" , which means that the village was resulted from forest clearance done by burning the woods.

Schimberg Municipality

The communes Ershausen, Lehna, Martinfeld, Misserode, Rüstungen and Wilbich merged on 1 January 1997, forming the new municipality of Schimberg. The name giver is a mountain with four peaks, the main peak being 473 above the sea level. Schimberg has not yet proper symbols. Lehne, Misserode and Rüstungen also had no proper symbols. Schimberg had 2279 inhabitants in 2015 and covers 29.3 km². Schimberg is seat of VG Ershausen/Geismar.

Schwobfeld Coat of Arms

The shield is green with a golden bordure, displaying seven silver men, holding a spear.
Meaning:
The village's name might be derived from "field of Swabians", If it is so, the seven men might refer to "The seven Swabians", a fairy tale, published among others by Brothers Grimm and Ludwig Bechstein. The Swabians, being cowards and fools, were hunting a "monster" with only one spear. The monster however turned out being a rabbit in the end.

The shield is parted per fess. Above are two golden mattocks in saltire in a green field. Beneath are eight black lozenges, ordered 5:3, in a golden field.
Meaning:
The mattocks are representing the suffix "-rode" and thus alluding to former forest clearances. The lozenges are referring to the nickname of the local people, being called "grindstones".

Volkerode Coat of Arms

The shield is silver, a black bend charged with a golden sword. Above left is a green branch of linden tree with three leaves. Beneath right is a red bendy antler.
Meaning:
The sword is representing the Knights of Volkerode and is an attribute of St. Michael, the local patron saint. The branch is representing the linden tree on the local common. Finally the antler is reminding on the resettlement of deer in the Eichsfeld region, which began in Volkerode.

The shield is parted per pale; at dexter a green field charged with a silver baptistery; at sinister a black field divided by a silver, wavy bend sinister, charged with a blue trout.
Meaning:
The municipality's name is derived from "Wildebach" (= wild creek), symbolized by bend wavy and trout. The sinister half is thus canting. The baptistery is that one located in the local church.
