Birkenfelde Coat of Arms

The shield is silver with green base, displaying a green birch eradicated silver, charged with a black chain hanging from the lower branches and a red inescutcheon, charged with three blue bars, the lowest bar charged with one silver lens, both others with three silver lenses.
Meaning:
The birch (German: Birke) is canting. The chain is representing St.Leonhard, the local patron saint. The inescutcheon displays the arms of the Linsingen kin. The lenses (German: Linsen) are thus also canting.

Lutter Coat of Arms

The shield is divided into blue and green by a silver bendlet sinister wavy. Above right is a silver knight in full armour with shield and lance, topped by a flag. Beneath left is a silver millwheel.
Meaning:
The warrior is St. Maurice, the local patron saint, who appeared also in the local seals until 1953. The wheel is referring to the four watermills, being in this village in the past. The bendlet is symbolizing Lutter creek, also being name giver of the village.

Mackenrode Coat of Arms

The shield is blue, charged with a silver building in black half timber, having two gables and a tower with embowed spire. The base is golden charged with two green oak leaves in saltire accompanied by two impending acorns of the same.
Meaning:
The building probably is the local church of St. Martin. Leaves and acorns are representing the Eichsfeld region. Oak leaves and the curch had already been on former seals until 1953 and from 1994 to 2001.

Röhrig Coat of Arms

The shield is silver. Issuant from base is a green mount charged with a silver barrulet wavy. Issuant from mount is a green bulrush seeded black, flanked by a red bottle at dexter and a red heraldic rose seeded golden and barbed black at sinister.
Meaning:
The bulrush (also called Röhricht in German) is obviously canting. The rose here probably is an attribute of St. Elizabeth, the local patron saint. Elizabeth always supported the poor people in the region. But her husband was upset. Usually she gave bread to them. As her husband wanted to punish her for giving away bread, the legend says that the bread was changed into roses in her basket. The crowned head of Elizabeth, flanked by two roses already appeared on local seals until 1953.

The blue shield displays a golden mount, issuant from base and charged with a black stomp. Issuant from mount is a silver capricorn armed golden. In dexter chief is a golden oak leaf.
Meaning:
The stomp is representing the suffix "-rode ", meaning that the settlement was established by forest clearance. The oak leaf is referring to the Eichsfeld region. The mount is representing the nearby Steinberg. The Capricorn is referring to a nickname of the local people.

The shield is parted per pale. At dexter in a silver field is a red coat, being divided by a golden sword and held by a pair of hands proper. At sinister is a green field is a load carrier passant, dressed in silver clothing and with a silver pannier.
Meaning:
St. Martin, the local patron saint, is here represented by his divided coat. He appeared riding on a horde already on former local seals.

The shield is divided by a silver barrulet wavy. Above right in a red field is a silver 6-spokes wheel. Below in a blue field is a silver scallop.
Meaning:
The barrulet wavy is representing Leine River. The wheel is representing the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. The scallop is an attribute of St. James the Elder, the local patron saint. The blue colour is representing St. Mary, the patron saint of the Eichsfeld region.

The shield is parted per pale. At dexter in a blue field a silver bishop with black crozier and a red book, charged with a silver Latin cross and pierced by a black dagger. The sinister half is parted per fess. Above in a silver field is a red flame. Beneath in a red field is a silver 6-spokes wheel.
Meaning:
The wheel is representing the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. The flame is reminding on the complete destruction of the place by fire in the 15th century. The bishop is St. Boniface, the local patron saint, who appeared in this very pose already in local medieval seals.
