Denkendorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent a wreath Vert with four leaves, at sinister Gules a quadrangular column Argent.
Meaning:
The column is representing a local monument, which was erected at the instigation of King Maximilian II, in order to remind on the Limes fortification of the Roman Province Raetia, which crossed the area of the municipality. The wreath is taken from the family arms of the Lords of Zandt, who lived in the namesake village, today part of Denkendorf, between 1245 and 1519. They had a fiefdom over the local castle between 1306 and 1347 and owned the Prunn district (Bavarian: Hofmark), the nowadays Schönbrunn (since 1875), between 1451 and 1485. The tinctures white and red are those of the Bishopric of Eichstätt, which ruled the biggest part of the current municipality until 1803.

The banner has never been approved officially. The arms were adopted by the local council and confirmed on 14 May 1976 by district governor (Regierungspräsident) of Oberbayern.
