Walting Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a sinister flanch wavy Gules charged with a crozier issuant Argent in pale, at dexter above a helmet Sable crested with horns and ears of a bull of the same and beneath three 6-pointed stars Gules ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
The flanch wavy is symbolising the location in the valley of the Altmühl. The crozier is the heraldic symbol of the Bishopric of Eichstätt, to which the municipality belonged until 1803. The helmet with horns and ears is taken fom the seal of the Lords of Walting, who lived in the village until the 14th century. The stars are taken from the family arms of the Lords of Pfalzpaint, who lived in the area since 1194 and owned village and castle of Pfalzpaint until 1452. Both were incorporated into the territory of Eichstätt in 1659. Pfalzpaint had been a fiefdom of the Counts of Hirschberg and later of the Dukes of Bayern. The most famous member of the Pfalzpaint family had been Heinrich of Pfalzpaint, who in 1460 wrote a book about surgery.
