SG Lathen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess wavy of Argent and Vert, six grain sheaves in counterchenged colours, flanked in base by two inescutcheons, at dexter parted per fess of Gules and Or, at sinister Or a fess Gules.
Meaning:
The bar wavy is representing Ems River. The inescutcheons display the arms of Corvey Imperial Abbey (right) and the Bishopric of Münster (left). Lathen had been a dominion of both in the past. The number of sheaves is symbolising the six municipalities of Lathen.

Fresenburg Coat of Arms

Shield Or, issuant from a base wavy Or an embattled wall Gules masoned Sable topped by two towers of the same, issuant from wall a linden Gules having three main branches.
Meaning:
The wall with two towers is alluding to the two local castles Fresenburg and Düthe. The Linden is symbolising the thing place, a location in Düthe for sessions of a local court. The main branches are symbolising the three villages of the municipality: Fresenburg, Düthe and Melstrup. The base wavy is representing Ems River and Dortmund-Ems Canal. Red and yellow had been the colours of the family arms of the Lower Collegiate, it was the northern part of the Bishopric of Münster, to which Fresenburg belonged from 1252 to 1803. The arms were designed in 1991 bei Ulf-Dietrich Korn.

Shield Vert, a well Argent draped with two inescutcheons, at dexter parted per fess of Gules and Or, at sinister Or a fess Gules, in base a bar wavy Argent.
Meaning:
The well is the Osterbrunnen on Lathen market square (see this photohere). The bar wavy is representing Ems River. The inescutcheons display the arms of Corvey Imperial Abbey (right) and the Bishopric of Münster (left). Lathen had been a dominion of both in the past.
The arms were approved on 2 February 1970

Shield Gules with base wavy Or, issuant from base at dexter a grain ear Or and at sinister a bulrush Or, in chief between both a bell Or, over all a throughout bridge Or.
Meaning:
The base wavy is symbolising the riches of water, Ems River with its dead stream branches, ponds and drainage channels. The wheat is symbolising the rural character and the bulrush is alluding to the fact that 1/3 had been covered by moors, which had been cultivated in the middle of the 20th century. The bridge is representing the numerous local bridges. The bell is the old school bell, which had been used for many purposes as prayers, funerals, fire warning and emergencies. Red and gold had been the Colours of Corvey Imperial Abbey, owners of "curia Lathen" since the 11th century. They had been the colours of the family arms of the Lower Collegiate, it was the northern part of the Bishopric of Münster, to which Niederlangen belonged from 1252 to 1803.

Oberlangen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess wavy, above Or a pair of shears Gules in fess, beneath Gules four grain ears Or in fan.
Meaning:
Red and yellow had been the colours of the family arms of the Lords of Langen and of the Lower Collegiate, it was the northern part of the Bishopric of Münster, to which Oberlangen belonged from 1252 to 1803. The shears are a modification of the family arms of the Lords of Langen, displaying the shears in bend. The ears are representing the four villages forming the municipality: Oberlangen proper, Sand, Wilholte and Oberlangen-Moor settlement. Furthermore they are representing agriculture, the main local business line.
