Shield Or charged with a "Y" Azure and having a bordure of 14 alternating pieces of Azure and Or.
Meaning:
The "Y" is probably symbolising the three municipalities of SG Spelle.
The arms were approved on 19 June 1977.

Shield Gules, parted by a bend wavy Vert fimbriated Argent, above left a sheep Argent, beneath right an urn Argent.
Meaning:
The fimbriations are representing two local creeks: Giegel-Aa and Moosbeeke. Their six waves are representing the hamlets Kirchhof, Bramhof, Borken, Veerkamp, Barwöste and Kranenmoor. The sheep is a canting element. The urn is alluding to the existence of a local settlement for more than 2000 years.

Spelle Municipality

It is a blue-yellow-blue horizontal triband with ratio of stripes 1:3:1. The coat of arms is shifted to the hoist within the yellow stripe.
According to state archive Hannover the flag was approved on 12 January 1979.

Spelle Coat of Arms

Meaning:
The two oak trees are a canting symbol; the village was first mentioned in 890 as Spinoloha, or Spindelbaumwald (forest of European spindle trees), but oaks are a much more common species of tree in the region. The trees are shown with roots, for the village of Varenrode (Roden means clearing forest). The tower symbolising the former castle and estate of Venhaus. The plough in base is symbolising the rural character of the municipality.
