The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a yellow over blue over yellow horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the centre of the blue stripe.

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (=yellow) shield is a blue hill having three peaks. At its base is a black hole, the entrance of a mine, edged by golden (=yellow) stones. In the hole are silver (=white) hammer and mallet, crossed saltirishly. Above is a green branch of hazelnut having two leaves and three red nuts.
Meaning:
According to source hole, hammer and mallet are symbolizing mining, the branch is said to be canting and representing the former muncipality of Haßlinghausen.
