Aichtal Coat of Arms

Shield barry of six of Or and Vert, in chief an antler Sable per fess.
Meaning:
The arms are nearly the same as those of Filderstadt city, displaying the family arms of the Barons of Bernhausen, former rulers. The additional chief with antler is alluding to the Counts of Württemberg, who bought former Grötzingen city from the barons. Grötzingen was first mentioned in 1304 as a city, established by the Barons of Bernhausen, the successors of the Lords of Grötzingen, who died out in the 13th century. The city rights were probably granted by King Rudolf I. In 1337 the city was bought by the Counts of Württemberg. The first seal with prints since 1377 only displayed the antler. The current pattern appeared 1535 and 1605 (Siebmacher). The latter however displayed the Bernhausen arms in the tinctures yellow and blue. On 1 January Grötzingen merged with the municipalities of Aich and Neuenhaus and kept its name. The city was renamed to "Aichtal" on 1 August 1978. Sources:
