Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, a stag's head caboshed Or tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The arms are canting (stag = Hirsch). The village never had its proper seals, but a stag's head as a local symbol is known since 1502 from a plastic in the local Augustinian church, depicting St. Mary. In that year it appears in a decoration in the local church. The head later appears in many different decorations in the village, often combined with the lion barry of Hessen. The tinctures tie in with the pennants of local youth associations. The arms were approved in 1951.
