Eschenlohe Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent a demi-eagle Sable armed Gules and couped per pale, at sinister Gules a fess Argent with bordure Argent.
Meaning:
The arms are basically the same as those of Garmisch-Partenkirchen Market Town. The bordure is a distinguishing mark. Sometimes the bordure is displayed golden with a black inscription "SIGILUM HEINRICI * COMITATIS DE ESCHENLOVE +" (= seal of Heinrich Count of Eschenlohe). The arms are based on the family arms of the Counts of Eschenlohe, based on their seals with prints from 1260 and 1261. According to source the demi-eagle is armed black in order to distinguish him from that one of Garmisch-Partenkircen, but that isn't true. The shape of both eagles however is different.

The arms were approved on 14 January 1925 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The distinguishing bordure was added not before 1935.
