Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows in a blue field a silver (=white) spindle with a thread of the same colour hanging down. The sinister side shows in a yellow field a Markian chequered bar (three rows alternating red and silver (=white)). The shield is fimbriated silver (=white), which is not mentioned within the description, and it is topped by a golden (=yellow) mural crown.
Meaning:
According to source the spindle is symbolizing the 19th century textiles industry, the sinister side shows the arms of the counts of Mark. Illustrator Max Reinhardt in source displays the tincture of the spindle as golden (=yellow) and the shield has no mural crown.

The coat of arms was granted by the Prussian king on 27 July 1892 and was reconfirmed in 1969 by Regierungsprääsident Köln(?).
