Dransfeld Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a lion passant Or armed Sable.
Meaning:
Dransfeld gained city rights in 1305 from the Göttingen branch of the Dukes of Braunschweig. The oldest seal of the city from the same time displayed the sinister facing golden lion guardant of the Welfen kin, rulers of the Duchies of Braunschweig, beneath a city wall. But a secret seal from the 14th century already displayed the lion alone, dexter facing and passant. Since then the lion had never changed. The colours of the arms had been doubtful. Otto Hupp (around 1925) displayed the lion in the current colours, while Klemens Stadler displayed the lion armed golden in a black field. The flag colours had been the main colours of the arms as displayed by Stadler in 1967.

Meaning:
The number of leaves is referring to the number of former municipalities as follows: Ellershausen, Imbsen, Löwenhagen and Varlosen. The stem with oak leaves is taken from the arms of Löwenhagen, the stem with alder leaves from the arms of Ellershausen. Scheden Coat of Arms

Shield quartered; 1st quarter Or a Latin cross Sable, charged with a crosslet Or ending in clover stems; 2nd and 3rd quarter Azure a broad bend sinister wavy; 4th quarter Or an antler Sable; in heart point an inescutcheon Azure, charged with a triangle Or topped by a crosslet of the same.
Meaning:
The cross with clover stems is representing Dankelshusen, where the local parish church had been, the cloverstems are representing the villages of that parish. The antler with starry points is a very rare heraldic symbol, a so called Cheruscian sign. It is taken from the seal of Dietrich of Meensen from 1352. The wavy bends are symbolising Schede, a creek crossing the municipality. The two quarters are representing the former municipalities of Oberscheden and Niederscheden (upper and lower village), which merged in 1964 forming Scheden. The triangle with cross is taken from the seal of Henning von Scheden, mayor in
Münden. Bend sinister wavy and and the triangle with crosslet had been the former arms of Scheden.
The arms were approved in 1973.
