Shield Gules, above a lion passant Or armed and tongued Azure, beneath a water lily leaf Or.
Meaning:
Seesen gained city rights in 1428 by Duke Otto of Braunschwieg-Lüneburg, but it had an urban character already before. The first seal with prints from 1407 and 1488 already displayed the lion of the Welfen kin and the water lily leaf, probably canting, as the name is derived from a little lake (German: See), supplied by Schildau, a creek. The pattern rmained the same from the late 15th century to the 18th century. A probably plain bicolour was approved in 1905.

Shield Vert, a house in half timber, behind the house a monk statant holding a tau cross in his right hand, issuant from chief a bar embattled Argent.

The bar embattled is alluding to nearby Stauffenburg Castle. The municipalities name is derived from Hof der Mönche (= court of monks). The Cistercian monk and the house are thus canting. The Order of Cistercians owned many domains and forests in the village. They founded Walkenried Monastery and ran a factory for mining and smelting. Furthermore they erected a chapel, dedicated to St. Anthony, represented by the tau cross.
The arms were designed by W. Krieg and K. Helburg. They were adopted by the local council in 1990.
