Ebersbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Or a boar passant Sable armed Argent, beneath Vert a fess wavy Or.
Meaning:
Ebersbach was first mentioned in 1306. It was acquired by the city of Zittau in 1597. At the end of the century Ebersbach had been a market town. In 1650 religious refugees from Böhmen (Bohemia) were settled in the town. The main business lines had been production and refinement of linen and cotton. In 1730 there had been nearly 600 looms in the village. Linen was sold to England and Holland at the end of the 18th century. Ebersbach gained city rights on 5 September 1925. The arms are based on a town seal from the end of the 16th century. They are canting displaing a boar (German: Eber) and a fess wavy, representing a creek (German: Bach).

Neugersdorf Coat of Arms

Shield Or a crane vigilant Sable holding a horseshoe of the same by his risen leg on top of a mount issuant of the same.
Meaning:
Gersdorf was first mentioned in 1241. It was devastated during the Hussite Wars. In 1657 the Bohemian Lordship of Rumburk settled its Protestant subjects in Upper Lusatia and the settlement of Neugersdorf basically remained an appendix of the nearby estate (German: Gutsdorf). In 1662 Gersdorf, meanwhile named Altgersdorf, was also populated by Bohemian refugees on behalf of the city council of Zittau. Main business lines of both villages had been production and refinement of linen, later also of cotton. In 1729 there had been more then 480 looms in both villages. In 1820 Neugersdorf was called a market town. In 1899 Altgersdorf and Neugersdorf were united. Since 1855 an efficient textiles industry had been established, supplemented by an iron foundry and a factory for the production of machines for spinning, weaving and twisting. City rights were gained in 1924. The arms appeared first at the end of the 17th century, when Gersdorf was re-founded. The origin of the arms had been the so called pond of cranes, which is located beneath the Beerberg, a mountain. Thus a crane had been chosen as heraldic animal. The crane vigilant at the beginning held the usual stone, which was replaced by the horseshoe in 1900, probably due to the metal working, which meanwhile had been introduced.
