Hildesheim-Marienburg County Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st and 4th quarter barry of six of Gules and Or, 2nd quarter Vert a stag's head caboshed Argent, crowned with a Latin cross Or, 3rd quarter Vert a building Argent.
Meaning:
The arms display in the 1st and 4th quarter the arms of the former Bishopric of Hildesheim. The colours red and yellow in two quarters and the flag colours as well are those of the Bishopric of Hildesheim, to which the county historically belonged until 1802. The building is Marienburg castle near Hildesheim. The stag of St. Hubert is referring to forestal riches and hunting. Until 1946, before the former Marienburg County was incorporated, the name of the county had been simply Hildesheim County. The greater arms of the county display a helmet on the shield, with as a crest a St. Hubert stag and the shield surrounded by gold and green oak leaves.
The arms were approved on 10 October 1946 by British Military Government.
