Trogen Coat of Arms

Shield Sable; issuant from a base embattled Argent a demi-lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules, holding an inescutcheon parted per fess of Argent, Gules and Sable by his forepaws.
Meaning:
The lion is taken from the family arms of the Lords of Weida, who ruled the Regnitz Shire, to which Trogen belonged, as reeves. Trogen was first mentioned in 1322. Since 1373 it was ruled by the later Margraves of Kulmbach-Bayreuth. The three embattlements are representing three former local estates, which belonged to the Counts of Reuß, the Margraves of Kulmbach-Bayreuth and the Electors of Sachsen. The estates had been lent to different kins, among others since the 14th century to the Lords of Feilitzsch, represented by the inescutcheon, which displays their family arms. The embattled base is also representing a former moated castle. Its remains existed until the beginning of the 20th century.
