Coat of Arms

Shield Sable, an impending, facetted saltire Argent, flanked by two 6-point stars Or.
Meaning:
The arms are partially based on a seal dating from 1706. The seal displayed a saltire, the attribute of St. Andrew, the patron saint of the city in the lower part of the shield, and two crossed keys in the upper part. The keys were taken from the arms of the Bishopric of Worms, which formerly ruled the town. The keys are the symbol of St. Peter, the patron saint of Worms. When and why the stars were added is not clear. The keys probably were removed in the early 19th century when the Bishopric of Worms was abolished. The colours were not fixed until 1930 and different colours were used during the last century. Before Lampertheim used different arms in seals. The oldest seal from the 15th century just displays a plough share. Around 1540, under the rule of Bishop Heinrich of Worms, new arms appeared. They displayed the arms of the Wittelsbach kin (his family) combined with the keys of Worms. These arms were probably used until 1706.
The current arms were approved in 1930.
