Elgersburg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per chevron reversed, above Argent a chevron reversed Azure, beneath Vert with base wavy of Azure and Argent, issuant from base a castle Argent.
Meaning:
The castle (German: Burg) is a canting element. It was owned for many centuries by the Lords of Witzleben. The chevrons are a differentiation of their family arms, but with a blue chevron instead of a red one. The wavy base is symbolising that the municipality is a well-known cold-water spa and resort.

Martinroda Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a bend sinister Vert charged with five yews Sable, above right Azure a hare passant Sable, beneath left Or shovel and hammer Sable in saltire.
Meaning:
The hard wood of yews had been of great importance for the production of buckets, scoops, cutlery, boxes, bows and crossbows. The tools are referring to the production of glass and porcelain and the local sand pits. The hare is referring to a nickname of the local people, who had been called the "sand hares of of Mertrude". The shield on banner is fimbriated golden. But the shield is also depicted without fimbriation and different tinctures, parted by a yellow bend sinister of blue and green, and the yews sometimes are depicted as green.

Plaue City

Plaue Banner

Plaue Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a double queued lion rampant Or, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
Plaue had been a possession of the Hersfeld Abbey and was acquired by the Counts of Schwarzburg-Käfernburg in the 13th century. It was seat of a parish since 1282, gained a market in 1335 and city rights in 1346. A local council existed since 1335. In the 14th century the salinas had been the main business line. Later a brewery, a porcelain factory and minor industries developed. In 1904 a health resort with mineral springs started its business. The city had always been a possession of different branches of the Schwartburg kin. Finally between 1599 and 1918 it was part of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The city arms display the family arms of the Schwarzburg kin and are based on local seals, which existed since the early 15th century. The pattern changed frequently in details. Older versions displayed a crowned lion.

The arms were confirmed in 1993 but are in use since the 15th century. The banner is already mentioned in the Hauptsatzung, version 18 December 2002
