Östringen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a boiler-ring Argent, surrounding a faceted 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
Östringen belonged to the Bishopric of Speyer until 1802, with all ist incorporated villages. It gained the rank of a city in 1981. The boiler-ring is a local symbol. It was depicted on church bells from 1709. On the first town seal with prints since 1746 the star was added as a mere decorating element. On coloured stamps from the 19th century the star was replaced by a small flower. The Genral State Archive suggested the old pattern with a star in the tinctures of the Bishopric of Speyer. The omega-shaped boiler-ring was interpreted as an initial for "Östringen" and the flower (forget-me-not) as a reward for loyalty in military service. Those intepretations are however mere fairy-tales.

The arms were adopted by the municipality in 1907. The banner was approved on 16 October 1958 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg, published in GABl 447/1958.
