Bad Brückenau Coat of Arms

Shield Or a bend Gules parted in centre by a fimbriation Or in bend.
Meaning:
The city arms are actually the arms of the Margraviate of Baden. The golden fimbriation is not mentioned in blazon and probably used as a distinguishing mark or a mere ornament.

Bad Brückenau Greater Coat of Arms

Baroque cartouche quartered, 1st and 4th quarter Argent parted by a cross Sable, 2nd and 3rd quarter parted per fess of Gules and Azure and charged with a bust of a female saint crowned Or collared Sable and Or and veiled Argent, in centre an inescutcheon Or charged with a bend Gules.
Meaning:
Brückenau had already been a city in the 13th century. All seals since 1399 until the 19th century only displayed the cross of the Fulda Imperial Abbey. There had been only one exception. A seal from 1525 displayed three towers over an embattled wall with open gate. In 1818 the personal arms of Abbot Bernhard Gustav Margrave of Baden were erroneously considered to be the city arms of Brückenau. The arms displayed the black cross of the abbey in two quarters and the arms of the Kempten Abbey, parted per fess of red and blue in the other two quarters. The inescutcheon in centre displayed the arms of the Margraviate of Baden. The margrave became abbot of Kempten in 1672. These arms were abolished only one year later in 1819 and replaced in 1836 by the arms of Baden alone, i.e. the inescutcheon. The arms have officially never changed since, although the city still uses the personal arms of the abbot from 1818 as "greater city arms", with additional busts of St. Hildegard, patron saint of the Kempten Abbey. Nowadays seals of the city are using the lesser arms. Brückenau was renamed to Bad Brückenau on 8 April 1970.

The flag colours are a repetition of the tinctures of the arms of Baden. The arms were granted on 3 February 1836.
