Zellingen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Argent an initial "Z" Gules; beneath parted per pale, at dexter parted per fess dancetty of Gules and Argent with three points, at sinister Azure a bend Argent charged with three annulets Azure.
Meaning:
The current town was established by a merger of Zellingen proper, Retzbach and Duttenbrunn in 1978. The initial is taken from the court seal of Zellingen, known by prints since 1691. The lower half displays the court seal of the former Retzbach market town. The dexter side is the so called Franconian rake, the sinister half displays the personal arms of Bishop Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn (1573 - 1617), who granted the seal to the village in 1586. The Franconian rake is furthermore alluding to the fact that Retzbach historically belonged to the Bishopric of Würzburg. The town arms of Retzbach displayed this seal as an inescutcheon in base of a red shield together with St. Lawrence issuant from inescutcheon, holding palm frond and his attribute gridiron by his hands.
