Offenbach Associated Municipality Coat of Arms

Shield quartered; 1st and 4th quarters Or charged with a local symbol, 3rd quarter Gules a cross fourché Argent, 2nd quarter Azure a local symbol Argent, orle of four alternating segments of Sable and Or.
Meaning:
The orle in the area is symbolising that the arms belong to an associated municipality. In this case each of the four segments is representing one of its four municipalities. All local symbols are different. Each quarter is representing one of the four municipalities as follows: proper (1st), Essingen (2nd), Hochstadt (3rd) and Bornheim (4th). The tinctures were changed.

Shield Gules a local symbol Argent.
Meaning:
The symbol is shaped like an initial "H" turned 90°. The local symbol (German: Gemarkungszeichen) is based on a seal from 1709. Symbols like this one were also used on borderstones of villages or land parcels.

Shield Sable a local symbol Or.
Meaning:
The symbol contains of a line in pale between two lines in fess, above only pointing to sinister, beneath only to dexter, annexed is a short centred linein pale. The local symbol (German: Gemarkungszeichen) is based on a seal from 1507. Symbols like this one were also used on borderstones of villages or land parcels.

Offenbach Coat of Arms

Shield Gules an impending fess Argent superimposed by an annulet Or.
Meaning:
Until the beginning of the 18th century the village had no proper seals. Dfocuments were sealed by the reeve of the Landeck district. In 1709 the district was acquired by the Palatine Electorate. Probably since then there existed proper court seals, which are known by prints since 1753. They displayed the current arms on a shield crested by a coronet. The draft of the current arms was made by Otto Hupp (1928). The charge is considered to be a stylised bushel.
