From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
"The new arms were granted on July 1st, 1977, and shows in the dexter part the Imperial crown [and orb], derived from the arms of the former Staffelstein county. In the old arms the whole image of Emperor Heinrich II was shown. The sinister half shows the lion of Bamberg, taken from the former arms."

The former coat of arms was approved on 26 August 1958 (...). The lion is taken from the arms of the Bishopric of Bamberg, as the largest part of the county historically belonged to the bishopric. The base with the basket is representing wickerwork, a traditional handicraft in the county.

Staffelstein County Banner until 1972

Red-white-blue. Annexed to the counties Coburg and Lichtenfels under the 1972 municipal reform.

Stefan Schwoon, 10 Aug 2001

The coat of arms was approved on 12 November 1962. The throne with Emperor Heinrich II was the old arms of the Chapter (Domkapitel) of the Bamberg Cathedral, that owned the area around Staffelstein. The basilisk is taken from the arms of the Benedictine Abbey of Banz, as the abbey held the estate of Baunach in the county. The base displays the Franconian rake, taken from the arms of the Bishopric of Würzburg, as the bishops owned the Sesslach estate.
