Maierhöfen Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a Roman watchtower Argent, superimposed by a sword Or and a key Or in saltire, base Argent, parted by a facetted cross Gules.
Meaning:
The Mehrerau Abbey had been the most important manorial lord of the settlement with scattered buildings around Maierhöfen. Sword and key are taken from the arms of the abbey. Another manorial lord was the Hospital of Isny. The red cross is the attribute of St. George, patron saint of the Isny Abbey. The tower is reminding on the Roman road between Bregenz and Kempten, which crossed the municipality. The road was located at the border between the Roman Empire and the Alemanni, a Germanic tribe. The tinctures red and silver are those of the Counts of Montfort, who established the abbey in Mehrerau.
