Rottach-Egern Coat of Arms

Elaborate shield Argent fimbriated golden at the top, parted by a fess wavy Gules above a heron's bust Azure armed Gules and holding a fish Azure in his beak; beneath a rowing boat Vert superimposed by two oars of the same in saltire.
Meaning:
In 1951 the municipalities of Rottach and Egern merged. The fess wavy is a canting element of Rottach and also symbolising Rote Ache, a creek with "reddish" waters. The heron's bust is taken from the arms of the Stöckl family, owner of large estates in Rottach and the Tegernsee area, especially owner of Sedelhof Estate in Rottach from 1275 to 1523. Numerous heron's existed on the shores of Tegernsee lake until the 19th century. The boat is representing Egern, is alluding to the Tegernsee in general and also to a former ferry boat.

The banner was approved on 12 December 1951, the coat of arms on 19 March 1951, both by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
