Warngau Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, above two water-lily leaves Vert intertwined by their stems, beneath a cross patty Gules, in orle a chain Sable.
Meaning:
The leaves had been the oldest heraldic symbol of the Tegernsee Abbey since the times of Abbot Oswald Torer around 1400. The abbey caused forest clearance and colonisation of the area in the 12th century. The abbey had furthermore been the most important manorial lord until 1803, when it was secularised. The red cross is the attribute of St. George, the local patron saint. The iron chain is an attribute of St. Leonard, patron of the cattle. The pilgrimage to the local All Saints Church in the meadows south of the village is dedicated to him. The chain is also symbolising the connection between Oberwarngau, Osterwarngau and Wall, which was incorporated in 1978.
