Meaning:
The leaves had been the oldest heraldic symbol of the Tegernsee Abbey since the times of Abbot Oswald Torer around 1400. The abbey owned large estates in the village since the 11th century and remained the most important manorial lord, until the abbey was secularised in 1803. One water-lily leaf had been furthermore part of the arms of the former municipality of Schaftlach, which had been incorporated in 1978. The mace is reminding on an insurrection of the local farmers against Austrian occupation in 1705. The mallet is symbolising mining, especially the depletion of pitch coal and limestone, furthermore the local cement mill in Marienstein.
