Elztal Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, an angel with fair hair, dressed and winged Azure, holding a sword Or in pale in his right hand and a pair of scales Or in his left hand; he is supporting an oval inescutcheon in dexter base. The inescutcheon is parted per pale, at dexter Argent a cross patty Sable, at sinister lozengy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The municipality was formed 1973/1975 by a merger of the municipalities of Auerbach, Dallau, Muckental, Neckarburken and Rittersbach. The arms are based on a court seal of Dallau from the 18th century. They had been also the municipal arms of Dallau since 1913. The angle is St. Michael, here depicted as a symbol of justice. The inescutcheon displays the arms of former rulers. The lozengy shield is taken from the arms of the Palatine Counts of Rhine, rulers until 1803. The cross Sable is alluding to the Teutonic Order, co-ruler in Auerbach, Dallau and Rittersbach until 1668.

Banner and arms were approved again on 20 January 1975 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg for Elztal Municipality, published in GABl 706/1975.
