Waldheim Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with orle Or, a tower Or masoned Sable with port and windows of the same, a narrowing base and a broad top having three parts with roofs Gules topped by crosslets Or.
Meaning:
Waldheim was first mentioned as a city in 1338. It belonged to the Margraves of Meißen, who had a local castle at least since 1271. In the 14th century the city was incorporated into the Lordship of Kriebstein. In 1404 the castle was transformed to an Augustine monastery, which was secularised in 1549. It was again transformed to a castle, later to an orphanage and finally to a prison. The arms are based on local seals. The pattern basically never changed since the 16th century. It is supposed that the building is a representation of the former town hall. In the current version the tower is exceeding the orle in chief and base.
