Buckow Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a heraldic rose Gules seded Or and barbed Vert, surrounded by two hop wreaths Vert with cones Or.
Meaning:
The Dukes of Lower Silesia built a castle in 1225 as protection of German settlers called up by the dukes. In 1252, finally in 1287, the settlement was acquired by the Margraves of Brandenburg from the Askanian kin. It became a market town under the manorial lordship of Leubus Monastery in 1253 and a city in 1416. The arms are probably based on the oldest seals of the city and were adopted in the 19th century with minor differences to the current version. Seals from the 16th century displayed a ball surrounded by beech branches. From the Medieval until the 19th century there had been large hop plantations and breweries on the area of the municipality, in the arms represented by the wreaths. The rose is taken from the family arms of the Manorial Lords of Closter, who had been local rulers in the 16th century.
