Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, an eagle Argent arme and tongued Or, holding two inescutcheons Argent in his claws, the dexter one sinister bendy charged with a sinister facing lion rampant Gules, the sinister one bendy charged with a lion rampant Gules.
Meaning:
Although Dautphe first was mentioned in 791 and became part of Amt Biedenkopf in 1302, the village had neither own seal nor arms. The current arms, which were granted as arms of Dautphe on 10 June 1952, are based on sculptured arms on the local church from 1543. The origin of these arms is unknown.
The arms were approved as arms of Dautphetal on 15 August 1977 and before in 1952 as arms of Dautphe.
