The flag has a broad red flag head with width 2/3 of the whole flag and charged with the arms without shield, the flyend has seven alternating red and white stripes.

Basedow Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a sinister facing rooster passant Argent, armed Sable with two tail feathers Sable.
Meaning:
n 1337 Lord Johann III of Werle-Goldberg enfeoffed the brothers Eckhard, Matthias and Nikolaus from the Hahn family with the villages of Basedow, Gessin and Liepen. The family gained the status of counts in in 1802 and remained owner of the estates of Basedow and Gessin until 1945. The arms are a differentiation of their family arms, which displayed a red rooster in a white field.

The flag was approved 22 September 1999 and arms were approved on 30 January 1998 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Both were published in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.150

Gielow Coat of Arms

Shield Vert a horseshoe Or surrounding shortened crozier in pale of the same.
Meaning:
The horseshoe is symbolising craftsmen and farming. The shortened crozier is symbolising that the village for more than 400 years belonged to the namesake Cistercian monastery.

Malchin Coat of Arms

Shield Or; on central base point a bull's head caboshed Sable, crowned Or, armed Argent and tongued Gules; on central chief point a cross patty Gules; in flanches two embattled towers Gules with windows Or.
Meaning:
n 1236 Lord Nikolaus I of Werle granted city rights to Malchin. The towers are symbolising a fortified city. The bull's head is taken from the arms of the Princes of Werle. The cross is an ecclesiastical symbol and perhaps alluding to the Bishopric of Cammin, which is not for sure. The arms are based on a print of a city seal from 1346.

The flag was approved on 1 June 1994 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The coat of arms was granted on 10 April 1858 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Both werepublished in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.50.
