Burg Stargard Coat of Arms

Shield Argent an eagle Gules armed and tongued Or.
Meaning:
The red eagle, in this case a version without cloverstems, is that one of the Margraves of Brandenburg. They gained Stargard from the Dukes of Pommern in 1236. The margraves erected a fortified castle between 1248 and 1271 in order to protect the crossroads from Hamburg to Pommern and from Lychen to the Baltic shores. Protected by the fortification next to the Slavic settlement of Stargard (=old town) there arose a German settlement, which gained city rights in 1259 granted by Margrave Otto III. of Brandenburg. Already in 1300 the region became a possession of the Dukes of Mecklenburg, who were temporarily residing here from 1352 to 1603.

Cölpin Coat of Arms

Shield Gules with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a swan najant Argent armed and tongued Or, in chief three beakers Or in fess with closure heads.
Meaning:
The swan is canting, alluding to the meaning of the Slavic name "Kolp" (=swan). The base wavy is representing the local waters. The beakers are taken from the family arms of the Dewitz kin. The family owned estates around Cölpin since the 13th century and in Cölpin since 1417. Stephan Werner of Dewitz (1726 - 1800), a chief privy councillor of both Mecklenburgian duchies in the 1780ies, built a mansion in Cölpin and restored the local parish church.
