Rattenkirchen Coat of Arms

Shield Or, between a 6-point star Azure and a lion's head Sable tongued Gules a fess Argent fimbriated Gules charged with five pellets
Meaning:
The fess with bordure and the lion's head are differentiations of the arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg. They are symbolising the close relationships of the archbishopric due to the parish and the local sovereignty since the 12th century. The blue star is an attribute of St. Mary of the Ascension, the local patron saint. The pellets, also known as gun stones, are reminding on the Battle of Hohenlinden on 3 December 1803, when Rattenkirchen was shelled by French troops. A few gun stones were integrated into the inner wall of the local church.
