Mayen-Koblenz County Coat of Arms

Shield Vert parted by a fess wavy Argent, in chief a coronet Or, in base a seedling Argent.
Meaning:
The fess wavy is representing the rivers Rhein and Mosel. The coronet is representing the former Koblenz County and appeared also in its county arms. The seedling is taken from the arms of the former Mayen County and blasoned as "Mayenbaum" (i.e. maypole) and considered to be canting.

It was a green-white vertical bicolour (see left image above). According to Klaus Günther the banner was also used with arms shifted to top (see central image above) or as green-white-green vertical triband with ratio of stripes 1:3:1 and arms with French shield shifted to top in the white stripe (see right image above).
Meaning:
The colours are the main colours of the county arms and of the former Rheinprovinz as well. On 7 November 1970 the county merged with Mayen County. Small portions became part of the city of Koblenz and Rhein-Hunsrück County.

Koblenz County Coat of Arms

Shield Vert parted by a chevron wavy Argent, in chief a coronet Or with gem stones Azure and Gules.
Meaning:
The chevron is symbolising the confluence of Rhein and Mosel at the "German Corner" (German: Deutsches Eck) in Koblenz. The coronet is representing the so called "king's seat" (German: Königsstuhl) in nearby Rhens. It was built in 1376 and had been the meeting place of the seven German electors, who nominated the German kings in this place. The monument was transferred to the western edge of Rhens in 1928. The former version of the arms displayed the black Prussian eagle without crown in chief.
