Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, on the line of partition an anchor parted per pale into Argent and Azure, at dexter Gules a round tower Argent with cone roof, oriel and embattled wall, at sinister Or a bear paw Sable armed Gules.
Meaning:
The town used a seal, displaying a castle with two towers and a bear paw, in the 15th century. The latter is taken from the arms of the Counts of Hoya, local rulers since the 14th century, who made Stolzenau their seat in 1525. Stolzenau protected the borders of the county and was a common dominion of both branches of the Counts of Hoya. Otto Hupp's version from 1925 was based on the first seal with prints since 1459. The anchor was added later, in order to stress the importance of shipping on Weser River. Stolzenau is seat of Mittelweser Comprehensive Municipality.
