Dierdorf Coat of Arms

Shield Or an equilateral triangle Sable over two isosceles trapeziums of the same.
Meaning:
King Ludwig the Bavarian granted city rights in 1346 and extended city rights in 1357. But Dierdorf was downgraded to a market town since the 16th century. The arms display a local symbol, which was already known by town seals with prints from 1713 and 1769. The older seal of lay judges, made before 1600, displayed five bends and had been a simplification of the arms of the Counts of Neuwied. The counts ruled the city and owned the castle as a fiefdom. In 1956 the city rights were regained.

The flag was released for the village fair in 1996 and widely used next year for the celebration of the 850th anniversary of the village foundation. The flag is now used for every festivity, including the private ones. The arms were approved on 13 May 1986.
