Großräschen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per saltire, above Gules a rake issuant Argent with seven teeth, at dexter Argent hammer and mallet Sable, at sinister Argent a beech branch Sable with eight leaves, beneath Gules three horseshoes Argent forming some kind of a triskelion.
Meaning:
The arms had been those of the namesake subcounty (German: Amt). The eight beech leaves are symbolising the eight municipalities of the subcounty. Hammer and mallet are symbolising mining. The rake had already been in the oldest city seal from 1738. The city had adopted different arms in 1948 parted quarterly, above right Gules a rake Argent in bend flanked by two grain ears of the same in bend, above left Argent hammer and mallet Sable, beneath right Argent a wine glass Argent, beneath left Gules masoned Argent. Rake, see also current arms, and grain were symbolising agriculture, hammer and mallet brown coal mining, the glass a local glass kiln and the masoned wall the local brickyards. Red and white had been the colours of Lower Lusatia.

The arms were approved (for the city) on 12 April 2002.
