Rettenbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend sinister wavy, above right Sable a rosette Or, beneath left Argent a bend sinister wavy Gules.
Meaning:
The current municipality had been incorporated into the neighbouring Stötten between 1978 and 1994. Rettenbach was first mentioned in 1167, when Ulrich of Frechenried donated the village and surrounding estates to Ottobeuren Abbey and thus established theLordship of Rettenbach. The lordship remained a possession of the abbey until 1280. Rosette and the tinctures black and gold are referring to the Abbey. The red bend sinister wavy is a canting element, as the name of the village, former Rotenbach, means "red creek". The tinctures are furthermore those of the Bishopric of Augsburg, which gained all local rights in 1453.
