SG Selsingen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Argent, issuant from base a pile Azure, charged with a watermill's wheel Argent, having eight spokes and 21 paddles.
Meaning:
The pile is taken from the arms of Selsingen municipality, but in different tincture. The wheel is representing the comprehensive municipality, its spokes the eight municipalities of Selsingen, finally the paddles the independent 21 former municipalities.

Meaning:
The foundling is the so called "Stone of Gods", which was discovered around 1900 during road works.

Deinstedt Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Azure, in chief a torc's lock Or, in base a watermill's wheel Or.
Meaning:
The wheel is representing the mill in Malstedt, which belonged to St. George Monastery in Stade and was first mentioned in 1132. The lock is symbolising the excavations from 1938, where jewellery from the Bronze Age was discovered.

Farven Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Azure, St. George Or, riding a horse Argent and killing a dragon Or, in base a bar wavy Argent, beneath the bar a heart Argent charged with a 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
St. George is alluding to the namesake monastery in Stade, to which the villages of Farven and Byhusen belonged. The bar wavy is representing Bever Creek. Heart and star are taken from the arms of the local Byhusen kin, today calling itself Bihusen.

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Or, divided by a bend sinister wavy Vert, in dexter chief a raven passant Sable, in sinister base a small wreath Vert of three oak leaves and three acorns.
Meaning:
The bend wavy is symbolising the watershed of Elbe and Weser, which is crossing the municipality. The oak wreath is representing Ostereistedt proper. The old name had been Oster Eystedte, which means "place of oaks" and is derived from "oak" (German: Eiche). The raven is representing Rockstedt village, which was first mentioned in 1153. Its name is derived from Lower German word "Rook" (= raven). Some say that in Rockstedt had been a colony of common ravens (Latin: Corvus corax), which had been attendants of the God Odin.

Meaning:
The blazon denotes the plates as balls. They are taken from the family arms of the Barons of Rahden, local rulers. Their seat had been in a moated castle in Rhade from the 12th til 14th century.

The arms were overtaken from former Godenstedt municipality. During the depletion of marlstone the remains of a mammoth had been found there.
