Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided by a sinuous line into golden (= yellow) over green. The only figure is a tree with four leaves in counterchanged colours.
Meaning:
The sinuos line is symbolizing the particular landscape in the municipality. The tree is symbolizing forestal riches. The number of leaves is symbolizing the four settlement cores of Barlohe, Dörpstedt, Hütten and Nienborstel proper. The green colour is symbolizing the groves and the yellow colour the moraines.

Nindorf Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield upon a green base is a golden (= yellow) hill, superimposed by a silver (= white) ring, which is open on top and ending in two oak leaves. Hill and base are superimposed by five pallets, being blue upon hill and silver (= white) upon base.
Meaning:
The colours of blue and white are symbolizing the sky. The colours of green and yellow are symbolizing fields and meadows. The leaves are symbolizing (pars pro toto) a double-oak in the centre of the municipality. The municipality is built upon a hill, being a watershed. The pallets are symbolizing the five fountains needed for water supply.

Oldenbüttel Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided by a silver (= white) bar wavy, superimposed by a blue barrulet wavy. Above in a blue field is a silver (= white) and black hauled ferry. Below in a green field ar three silver (= white) houses ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
After the Kiel Canal had been completed, the municipality was intersected. The village of Bokelhoop is located north of the channel and the cores of Oldenbüttel and Bokhorst are located south of the channel. The core remained connected by a ferry, which had been maintained as a hauled ferry until 1990. The houses are representing the settlement cores. The bar and the barrulet are representing the Eider River and the Kiel Canal. The green colour is representing agriculture and nature.

Osterstedt Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per bend wavy. Above left in a green field is a golden (= yellow), rising, radiant sun. Below right in a golden (= yellow) field are two green leaves and three red berries of whitethorn (Latin: Crataegus oxyacantha).
Meaning:
The rising sun is a canting element, representing the East (German: Osten). The whitethorn is very common within the local hedges. The yellow colour is symbolizing the moraines, the green colour is symbolizing landscape and agriculture.

The silver (= white) shield is divided by a blue fess wavy. Above is a green, rooted oak tree, below is a red horseshoe.
Meaning:
The fess wavy is symbolizing the Stör River. The tree is displaying the typical kind of tree in the municipality. The horseshoe is symbolizing the importance of agriculture in the past.

Rade bei Hohenwestedt Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per chevron. Above right in a green field are two golden (= yellow) ears of grain, the right ear is higher. Above left in a green field is a golden (= yellow) horsehead. In the centre of the shield in a silver (= white) field is a red millwheel. The golden (= yellow) chief is edged by a blue fess wavy.
Meaning:
The silver apex, "ingressing" the green wood, is alluding to the name "Rade", which means "forest clearance". The millwheel is symbolizing the local mill, which had been privileged by the Danish kings. The fess wavy is symbolizing the creek and the two ponds, which drove the millwheel. The golden base is symbolizing the moraines of the Hohenwestedter Geest.

Remmels Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield is a green hill, superimposed by a silver (= white) tower having a red roof. The tower is flanked by two silver (= white) maple leaves. Below the tower is a golden (= yellow) post horn.
Meaning:
The colours of green and yellow are symbolizing the landscape. The tower is supplying the municipality with water. The maple leaves are alluding to the name (Remmels = grove). The horn is alluding to the coaching inn (post office), that had been built in Remmels in 1762.

Description of coat of arms:
The silver (= white) shield is superimposed by a red fess, which is superimposed by an unspecified golden (= yellow) coronet with six spikes. Above is a red "mural crown" with six pinnacles. Below is a blue key.
Meaning:
The charges are based upon a legend of a king, who hid a chunk of gold, a donation of a servant, in a locked drawer. (no further information given).

The ratio is 3:5. The hoist side is displaying the coat of arms without shield. The flyend is horizontally divided by nine alternating blue and white stripes.

Todenbüttel Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per bend sinister wavy into blue and silver (= white) with two oak leaves in counterchanged colours.
Meaning:
The partition and the number of leaves are alluding to the merger of Todenbüttel and Maisborstel in 1938. The bend wavy is symbolizing the Todenbüttler Au, a creek and is symbolizing that the municipality belongs to the county of Rendsburd-Eckernförde. The county's shield is divided the same way. The leaves are also representing the big Rendsburg Forest (in the past). The colours are symbolizing riches of water.

The ratio is 3:5. It is a green over yellow bicolour with ratio approx. 4:1. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Wapelfeld Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The golden (= yellow) shield is divided by a blue bend sinister wavy, however not completely divided, because the bend is broken in the middle. Above right is a red wheel with eight spokes. Below left is a green cane above a green picket fence issuant.
Meaning:
The cane is a canting element, representing the local swamps ("Wapelfeld" acc. to Laur(1992) is "field near swamp"). The bend wavy is symbolizing the Wapelfelder Au, a creek. The interruption is symbolizing one of the first bridges in the Rendsburg district. The wheel is symbolizing a railway line and an old highway. The picket fence is alluding to a castle, begun in 1248 and probably never finished, because it was destroyed already in 1249.
