Lauenau Coat of Arms

Shield Gules; a lion rampant Or, armed and tongued Azure on a bar wavy Argent.
Meaning:
The oldest district seal from 1572 denotes Lauenau as a fiefdom of the Counts of Schaumburg. It displays over a bar wavy the intials "LNA" (= Lauenauer Amt) topped by an impending nettle leaf. In 1635 the fiefdom went back to the Welfen kin. The arms remained more or less the same since 1649. According to a seal from that year the only difference to the current arms was an additional bar beneath the bar wavy. The bar wavy is representing little Aue River. The lion is a symbol of the Welfen kin. He is furthermore considered to be a canting element, as the Latin form of the name had been "Leonoviense".
The arms were granted in 1649 by Duke Georg Wilhelm of Lüneburg.

Rodenberg Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, issuant from base two mounts Or, in chief an impending nettle leaf Argent.
Meaning:
The settlement beneath the castle of the Counts of Schaumburg in the Kaspaue gained the rank of a market town in 1375 and of a city in 1615. The oldest seal from the 14th century, mentioned in 1380 with prints since 1440, displayed the impending nettle leaf over a quadruplemount without shield. The mountains are canting elements and referring to the Deister, a local mountain ridge, and the old Rodenberg, surrounding the city. Since the 17th century the number of mounts was reduced to two. The nettle leaf is taken from the arms of the Counts of Schaumburg. The tinctures were first used by Otto Hupp in the 1920ies and fixed in the local Hauptsatzung in the 1960ies
