Brannenburg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess dancetty, above Azure three impending lozenges Or in fess, beneath Argent a branch Sable in fess with three burning flames Gules.
Meaning:
The burning branch is alluding to the fact that the municipality was established by slash and burn on a burning mountain. The burning branch is also part of the arms of the Lords of Brannenburg, who owned the local castle and were affiliated in the 12th and 13th century to the Counts of Falkenstein and later to the Bavarian dukes from the Wittelsbach kin. The lozenges are taken from the arms of the Darching famil, who ruled Mooseck in the 14th and 15th century. The tinctures blue and golden are those of the Counts of Falkenstein, who ruled the area until the middle of the 13th century. The flaming branch had also been part of the arms of the former municipality of Großbrannenburg.
