Regensburg County Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, at dexter Gules a bend Argent, at sinister Argent parted by a cross patty Gules, chief lozengy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The chief displays the lozenges of Bayern as several court districts (Stadtamhof, Haidau, Pfatter and parts of Kelheim and Mitterfels) had been possessions of the Dukes of Bayern for centuries. The bend in the lower dexter half shows the arms of the Bishopric of Regensburg, which also held the districts of Wörth and Donaustauf. The cross is representing the Benedictine Prüfening Monastery, the largest of the many former monasteries in the district, which also owned estates.

The banner was approved on 19 September 1969 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The coat of arms was approved on 17 September 1963 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. Both were confirmed on 26 September 1972 by district governor (Regierungspräsident) of Oberpfalz.
